ST. LOUIS - Jenna Anderson of Missouri State women's soccer was named the Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Week, the league announced Tuesday.
In week one of action, Anderson recorded an assist against Oklahoma State and helped anchor an MSU defense that kept SIUE from taking any on-target shots as the Bears went 2-0 to open the season. This is the first time the Bears have beaten a Power-5 team since 2018 when Missouri State defeated Kansas State 1-0.
2018 was also the last time the Bears started the season 2-0.
The Overland Park, Kan., native was recently named to the All-MVC Preseason Team as an honorable mention.
Missouri State was one of four teams in The Valley to go undefeated across to open regular season action as they sit atop the conference standings. The Bears will travel to Central Arkansas on Wednesday for an 8 p.m. match, before returning home to take on Oregon on Sunday at 1 p.m. at Allison South Stadium.
