SPRINGFIELD -- Missouri State men's basketball coach
Dana Ford announced today the addition of Darreon (dare-ee-on) Reddick as director of basketball operations; and Marcus Brock as the team's strength and conditioning coach for the upcoming season.
Reddick is a former player for Ford at Tennessee State University and most recently served as an assistant coach at Missouri S&T the past two seasons. Prior to his time at S&T, he spent the two previous years as an assistant at Northern Oklahoma-Enid, where he was involved in a variety of aspects of the day-to-day operations within the program, including academic oversight, recruiting, scouting, travel, weightlifting and player development.
A native of Belleville, Ill., Reddick played four seasons at Tennessee State where he averaged 7.4 points and 2.7 rebounds per game during his career. He started in 103 of the 121 games he played from 2014-18, as he also accumulated 169 assists, 75 steals and eight blocked shots while connecting 119 times from three-point range, where he shot 33.1 percent for his career. He was named as the Ohio Valley Conference's Freshman of the Week once during the 2014-15 season after scoring a career-high 25 points against Murray State, averaged nine points per game as a junior. He served as a team captain for the Tigers during his senior year, when he had a 20-point outing against third-ranked Kansas.
Reddick earned his degree from Tennessee State in Human Performance and Sport Science in 2018. Reddick played professional basketball for two seasons before joining the Northern Oklahoma-Enid staff, including one year with B.C. Olimpi in Georgia and with the Pioneros in Mexico.
His official start date will be July 1.
Brock comes to Springfield after spending the past year at the University of Texas in Austin where he was as an assistant strength and conditioning coach for the Longhorns. He has held previous positions at Baylor and Florida Atlantic.
He played two seasons of basketball at Incarnate Word University in Texas for coach Ken Burmeister from 2013-15 before serving as a student manager the following two seasons. He played in 18 games during his playing career.
Brock is a native of San Antonio, Texas where he attended Madison High School and earned academic all-state honors under head coach Chris Romine. He is a 2016 graduate of Incarnate Word where he earned his degree in Kinesiology and holds NSCA-CSCS/CPT and CPR/ADE First Aid certification.
Brock, who will also work with the men's golf program at Missouri State, has an official start date of June 15.
Both hires are contingent upon final approval by the Missouri State University Board of Governors at its next scheduled meeting.
