SPRINGFIELD – Missouri State women's basketball head coach
Beth Cunningham announced today the signing of transfer Angel Scott. Scott has two years of eligibility remaining.
Scott, a 5-10 guard, makes her way to Springfield after spending the last two seasons at Stephen F. Austin. Last season for the Ladyjacks, Scott started all 34 games and averaged 6.7 points and 2.4 rebounds per game. She also collected 44 steals, dished out 57 assists and was second on the team with 49 three-point field goals. In 2022-23, SFA finished second in the WAC regular season standings and made a WNIT appearance, defeating Texas State in the first round before falling to Arkansas to conclude the season.
As a freshman at SFA, Scott played in all 33 games while earning two starts. She averaged 4.6 points and 1.4 rebounds in addition to tallying 32 assists, 39 steals and eight blocked shots in her freshman campaign. In her first season, the Ladyjacks were the 2021-22 regular season champions and went on to win the WAC Tournament championship to advance to the NCAA Tournament. She also played with her sister Brionna while at SFA.
Scott hails from Edmond, Okla., where she played high school basketball at Deer Creek High School.
Cunningham on Scott:
"Angel Scott, a veteran guard with a versatile skill set, is coming to Missouri State after two successful years in a winning program. Angel is highly competitive and fits in perfectly with our team culture. She has a high basketball IQ, can handle the ball, and brings in an outstanding perimeter shot that will stretch the floor for us offensively. We are thrilled to have her and can't wait to get her on campus this summer!"
