Storylines for the Kansas City Game
  • Last weekend, Missouri State won its fourth consecutive MVC series with two victories on the road at Illinois State.  After dropping the first game of the series, the Bears battled back to take the next two games by scores of 5-4 and 4-1 to move into second place in the MVC standings.
  • A visit from the Roos kicks off an eight-game home stand that will close out the 2023 home slate for MSU. The Bears own a 7-0 record in Springfield this season.
  • MSU is now 12-1 in its last 13 games and the Bears are outscoring their opponents, 77-20, during that span.
  • The Bears are 18-2 on the season when scoring three or more runs and 18-1 on the year when allowing fewer than three runs.
  • Head coach Holly Hesse is in her 35th season at the helm of the Bears program and she is just 8 wins shy of 900 career victories. She entered the season ranked 17th among all active NCAA Division I head coaches in career victories as her current record sits at 892-853-2.
  • Up next, Missouri State will host new Valley member UIC in a three-game series on Legacy Weekend (April 14-16). As part of Legacy Weekend, MSU Softball will honor 2023 MVC Hall of Fame inductee, Barb Gaines Porter, as well as longtime associate head coach, Sue Frederick.
