Starting Five - Storylines for the MVC Tournament
1) The Missouri State Lady Bears are continuing their tradition of dominance on the boards this season. MSU ranks 8th nationally and 1st in the Missouri Valley Conference with 16.1 offensive rebounds per game, while ranking 2nd in the conference and 22nd in the country in total rebound average with 41.7 per game. Missouri State also owns a +9.0 rebound margin, which is 2nd in the conference and 12th nationally.

Aniya Thomas continues to serve as an all-around player for the Lady Bears, leading MSU with 14.6 points per game, 30 three-point FGs, a .769 free throw percentage, 131 assists and 60 steals. She owns seven 20-point games this season and 25 double-figure scoring performances. Thomas was a second-team All-MVC selection, while also earning a spot on the MVC All-Defensive and All-Newcomer teams.Â
3) First-year Lady Bear
Kennedy Taylor made an immediate impact for MSU this season. Taylor nearly averaged a double-double against MVC competition this season with 13 points and a team-leading 9.2 rebounds per game against Valley foes. She leads MSU with 10 double-doubles and 13 double-figure rebound games on the year, and has led the team on the boards in 15 games this season. The sophomore was also named to the MVC All-Newcomer Team and was a third-team All-MVC selection.
4) MVC Freshman of the Year
Jade Masogayo was MSU's leading scorer in the First Round against Bradley with 19, while also collecting a game-high four steals. According to HerHoopsStats.com, Masogayo is one of two freshman in NCAA Division I averaging at least 8.0 points per game, 5.0 rebounds per game, 1.5 assists per game and 1.4 blocks per game this season. She also moved into 8th in program history for single-season blocks with 44 on the season.
5) Missouri State is 11-0 this season when holding opponents to less than 60 points and 14-0 when scoring 70+ points. They also own a 20-3 record when collecting more assists than their opponent, meanwhile that record falls to 0-7 when their opponent has more assists.
