Thirty-Seven Current and Former Bears to Receive Degrees Friday

SPRINGFIELD -- A total of 37 current and former Missouri State University student-athletes will receive their degrees Friday, Dec. 15 during fall commencement ceremonies at 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. at Great Southern Bank Arena on the Springfield campus.
 
Led by football (13), women's track and field (7) and men's soccer (4), the graduating student-athletes represent 11 different sports.

Five graduates earned academic honors. One student-athlete -- track and field athlete Karissa Coble Locke -- earned summa cum laude (3.90 to 4.00 GPA) academic honors. Likewise, magna cum laude distinction (3.75-3.89 GPA) will be bestowed on baseballer Will Duff, swimmer Ainsley Krug and volleyball performer Manuela Ibarguen. Finally, men's soccer standout Pascal Corvino earned cum laude (3.50-3.74 GPA) honors.
 
Five Bears are also completing post-graduate degrees.
 
All told, Missouri State will confer 943 bachelor's degrees, 443 master's degrees, 10 doctorate degrees and three specialist degree on Friday. The university will recognize 25 students for their work with a more rigorous curriculum in the school's Honors College in addition to 68 students who will graduate summa cum laude, 83 magna cum laude and 160 cum laude honorees.
