January 28, 2023

FORT WORTH, Texas – Missouri State men's swimming and diving gave Big 12 TCU all it could handle in the pool here Saturday morning but ultimately came up short against the Horned Frogs, 177-123.

MSU picked up four wins during the dual. Pawel Krawczyk was the standout MoState swimmer, being involved with three of the Bears first-place finishes, including two individual events.

Krawczyk won the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 1:49.29. Finishing right behind him was AJ Huskey, recording second with a time of 1:52.54. In the 500-yard freestyle, Krawczyk grabbed first with a time of 4:33.66. The Bears excelled in the event and rounded the top three with Dylan Moffatt (4:38.28) and Jonathan Hill (4:46.47) finishing in second and third.

In the 400-yard freestyle relay, the quartet of Brunno Suzuki, Krawczyk, Bruno Guerra and Lucas Chadwell snagged first with a time of 3:04.83 in the final event of the day.

"I'm satisfied with my races today," Krawczyk said. "It shows consistency across the board. There are a few details to improve on leading into conference, but I'm ready for some surprises when we get some rest."

In the dual's final individual event, AJ Huskey picked up a win in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 1:55.18.

"I'm very pleased with my 200 IM after two tough events," Huskey said. "It was a relief to contribute some points for the team. I am confident with my preparation this season, and I feel like I am in a great spot going into the conference meet."

On the boards, Logan Schelfaut grabbed third in three-meter diving action with a score of 327.00, his personal best in the event. Storm Opdahl finished right behind Schelfaut in fourth with a score of 326.18. In the one-meter diving event, Opdahl snagged third with a score of 304.35.

This dual acted as the last time the men's club would see the pool before the conference met. The Missouri State men will travel to Oxford, Ohio for the Mid-American Conference Championships on March 1-4 with events starting at 10:30 a.m.

The men's team finished with a 5-6 record in duals this season, while the women's club finished with 7-2 mark.

The MSU women's team is off until its conference meet. The Missouri Valley Conference Championships are set for Feb. 15-18 in Iowa City, Iowa with events beginning at 11:00 a.m.
