Reilly Named as New Compliance Director for Athletics

July 15, 2022

SPRINGFIELD -- Missouri State Director of Athletics Kyle Moats announced today (July 15) the hire of Tua Reilly as the university's new assistant AD for compliance. Her official start date will be July 22.

Reilly comes to Springfield from Tennessee State University where she been a staple in the athletic department for 16 years, the last eight (2014-22) as assistant AD for compliance and student services. She previously served as the compliance coordinator for six years (2008-14), was an intern in the compliance office during the 2007-08 academic year, and came to the Nashville campus in 2006 as a graduate assistant for the volleyball program.

"I am incredibly excited to start this next chapter back in Missouri," said Reilly. "MSU is a very special place, and it is truly an honor to be apart of a championship culture. I am grateful to Kyle Moats and Casey Hunt for their confidence in me and the opportunity to lead the compliance office. I look forward to contributing to the institution's continued success."

In her most-recent role at TSU, Reilly managed the day-to-day operations for the compliance office and was responsible for initial eligibility, continuing and transfer eligibility, the compliance website, in-house integrated databases, rules education, interpretations, and monitoring recruiting activities. She served as the sport administrator for volleyball during her tenure as assistant AD and also spent time on the TSU volleyball coaching staff.

Reilly came to Tennessee State from North Carolina A&T State University, where she was an assistant volleyball coach from 2004-05. During that stint, she assisted with practice, individual workouts, and trained setters. She also managed areas such as the budget, inventory, academic support, and recruiting while coordinating travel arrangements and spring tournaments. Her time at NC A&T also included two years as a student-athlete, earning All-MEAC honors both years and helping the Lady Aggies to back-to-back 20-win seasons for the first time in program history. She ranked among the MEAC leaders in kills, assists, blocks and aces as a senior.

She began her volleyball career at Missouri State-West Plains where she helped guide the Grizzlies to their first NJCAA Region 16 Championship and National Tournament appearance in 1999. She was a two-time All-Region 16 selection and concluded her juco career with a pair of regional titles and national tournament appearances, climbing as high as No. 3 in the national poll her sophomore year in 2000.

Reilly received her associate's degree from MSU-WP in 2001, earned her bachelor's degree in Fitness & Wellness Management from NC A&T in 2004, and secured a master's degree in Sports Administration from Tennessee State in 2008. She is currently a December 2022 candidate for the Doctor of Education in Leadership and Professional Practice at Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville.

A native of Killeen, Texas, Reilly has two children: Sagaia and Jakai.

Reilly replaces Alex Hirdler who recently departed Missouri State for a similar position at Duke University.

Her hire is contingent upon formal approval by the Missouri State University Board of Governors at its next scheduled meeting.
