SPRINGFIELD – Missouri State men's basketball head coach
Dana Ford announced today the hire of Jared Brugmann (BRUG-min) as the team's new strength and conditioning coach.
"Jared is a great addition to our team and brings a wealth of experience in the strength and conditioning areas," said Ford. "We look forward to continuing our summer workout regimen under his guidance and anticipate great strides for the season ahead."
Prior to coming to Springfield, Brugmann served a year-and-a-half at Presbyterian College in Clinton, S.C., including the last year as head strength and conditioning coach for all Blue Hose programs. In that capacity, he worked with all 19 Division I sports, including the development of individual strength, speed and conditioning programs for all of the university's student-athletes. He worked specifically with Presbyterian's men's and women's basketball programs when he arrived there in November 2020.
The native of Gretna, Neb., earned his graduate degree from Northern State University in Aberdeen, S.D., where he was a strength and conditioning graduate assistant from August 2019 until November 2020. He worked primarily with the cross country, swimming and track and field programs, and also assisted with the basketball programs at Northern State. He earned his Master's in Human Performance in May 2021.
Brugmann interned at South Dakota State, Creighton and Nebraska-Omaha after starting his collegiate career at Nebraska. He played football for the Cornhuskers for two years and was a three-time member of the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll. In both 2016 and 2017, he was selected to the Brook Berringer and Tom Osborne Citizenship Teams. He completed his undergraduate work at Nebraska-Omaha in 2019 with a degree in Exercise Science. He is also CSCS, and First Aid/CPR/AED certified.
Brugmann replaces Kyle Johnson who departed Missouri State this summer after a year on the Bears strength and conditioning staff.
Brugmann's hire is contingent upon final approval by the Missouri State University Board of Governors at its next scheduled meeting.
