Beach Bears Dominant in Wins Over Hendrix and Ottawa on Senior Day

SPRINGFIELD – The Missouri State Beach Volleyball team (12-10) notched a pair of victories Saturday as the Bears defeated Hendrix (3-2) and Ottawa (5-0) on Senior Day here at the Allison Beach Volleyball Courts.

In the opening dual against Hendrix, the Bears got on the board in the No. 5 spot as Parker McAllen and Olivia Rattler swept Megan Fuller-Freeman and Avery Evans-Brooks, 21-16 and 21-14.

Hendrix then answered back with a win in the No. 3 match as Liz Roy and Isabella Eurgil swept Addison Crider and Kaeli Kristensen (23-21, 21-14), to knot things up at 1-1.

MoState's Becca Bach and Grayson Hall won a battle in the No. 4 flight as they defeated Mabrey Matz and Eliana Oden in three (21-9, 19-21, 15-13). Missouri State clinched the dual courtesy of Grace Cook and Chloe Tome sweeping Morgan Ford and Kyler Greenlee (21-7, 21-13) in the No. 2 position.

Hendrix (14-8) closed out the dual with a win in the No. 1 match courtesy of Camryn Presley and Abby Collier taking down Tylar Garrett and Mya Young (21-23, 21-13, 16-14).

MSU also took the exhibition match as Abby Fowler and Maddie Bass defeated Faith Hill and Charlotte Alexander (21-6, 21-10).

The win over Hendrix was the Bears second this season over the Warriors, also scoring a 4-1 win over Hendrix on Feb. 26 at the Shoals Beach Bash in Gulf Shores, Ala.

Missouri State opened up the nightcap against Ottawa with a sweep in the No. 5 spot as McAllen and Rattler dispatched Ava Taton and Allison Thornton (21-9, 21-14). McAllen and Rattler are now 17-7 on the season.

In the No. 4 flight, Bach and Hall made quick work of Emily Jackson and Alexa Boyle winning both sets, 21-19 and 21-16. Crider and Kristensen clinched the victory for Missouri State in the No. 3 match by sweeping Elli Rodgers and Asia Cole (21-17, 21-17).

Grace Cook and Chloe Tome added insurance with a win over Kaitlyn Haller and Madison Wampler (21-11, 21-9) in the No. 2 position. With the win Cook and Tome became the first pair in program history to reach 20 wins in a season.

Garrett and Young put the final touches on a dominant day for MSU as the No. 1 duo swept Taylor Mobley and Randi Johnson (21-19, 21-12).

Chloe Filipski and Brooke Plessner won the exhibition match over Jaiden Blakely and Brenna Diller (21-9, 21-6).

Prior to the start of the Ottawa match the Bears honored Filipski and McAllen as part of Missouri State's Senior Day.

Up Next The Bears close out the regular season slate in Fort Worth, Texas, April 15-16. Missouri State will face TCU (10 a.m.) and Pepperdine (4 p.m.) on Friday, before taking on Stanford (9:30 a.m.) and Houston Baptist (1:30 p.m.) on Saturday.
