The Starting Lineup - Storylines for the Indiana State Series   

• Missouri State is set for a four-game homestand, beginning with a three-game Missouri Valley Conference series against Indiana State over the weekend. In their last time out, the Bears suffered a 1-0 extra-inning loss to UNI in Cedar Falls. 
• The Bears enter the weekend ranked 1st in Earned Run Average in MVC play. In nine conference matchups, the Bears boast a 1.54 ERA. MSU has given up just 16 earned runs in 72.2 IP, while also giving up the fewsest home runs (2) in league play. 
• Cardiac Bears - Of their 13 wins this season, 6 of the Bears' victories have been of the come-from-behind variety. 
• Missouri State is 10-2 this season when allowing 3 runs or less and 10-2 in games decided by one or two runs. 
• Daphne Plummer (Sr., Lee's Summit, Mo.), leads the Missouri Valley Conference with a .394 batting average on the season following a 3-for-4 performance at the plate last weekend at UNI. The senior also leads the conference with 16 stolen bases after swiping two bags against the Panthers, while tying for second in the MVC with 37 hits, sitting just one hit from the top spot. Against MVC foes, Plummer is batting .429 which is good for fourth in conference games only and she currently sits in second with 15 hits in MVC play. 
• MSU's 2022 schedule features 8 teams that appeared in the 2021 NCAA Tournament (Oklahoma State, Arizona State, Texas A&M, Arkansas, Kennesaw State, Wichita State, UNI and Southern Illinois), four of which were ranked in the USA Softball Preseason Top 25 (#4 Oklahoma State, #9 Arkansas, #21 Arizona State and #25 Wichita State).
• Steffany Dickerson (Sr., Oklahoma City, Okla.) and Madison Hunsaker (Sr., Peculia, Mo.) both rank in the top three in ERA and opposing batting average in conference games only. Hunsaker owns a 1.12 ERA to rank second, while Dickerson has a 1.25 ERA in MVC contests to rank third. Dickerson tops the conference leaderboard with a .161 opposing batting average, while opponents hit just .196 against Hunsaker, which is good for third place in the MVC. Dickerson has struck out a conference-high 42 batters in MVC play, while Hunsaker has allowed the fewest earned runs (4) against MVC competition. 
• Payton Minnis (Sr., Blue Springs, Mo.) leads the Missouri Valley Conference with 6 sacrifice bunts on the year. Her 0.23 sacrifice bunts per game rank 25th nationally and first in the MVC. In her last time out, Minnis came on to pinch hit in the 8th inning last week at UNI with the game tied at 0-0 and led off the inning with a bunt single. 

Series History
    Missouri State leads the all-time series against Indiana State, 68-29. In Springfield, the Bears own a 32-10 record against the Sycamores.
    The Bears secured the series win last season in Terre Haute with two victories. MSU bookended the series with 11-1 (5) and 8-7 victories, while dropping the second game 3-7.
