BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – In its second Missouri Valley Conference match of the weekend, the Missouri State tennis team fell (7-0) to Illinois State here Sunday afternoon. 

The Bears couldn't overcome the Redbirds in doubles play as Sandra Lukacova and Kate Miley fell to Maria Potsi and Penelope Abreu in Flight No. 2 (6-1) and Mara Presot and Mary Houston were defeated by Tijana Zlatanovic and Tara Damnjanovic in Flight No. 1 doubles (6-2). 

In singles play, Juliette Robinson took her opponent to the brink in the first position before falling in the tiebreaker (4-6, 6-1, 10-1). Presot also made strides against Abreu, but ultimately was defeated in Flight No. 5 (7-5, 6-2). Illinois State (12-5, 2-0 MVC) went on to sweep the match, in its second-straight conference victory. 

"Today's match was against one of the best teams in this conference," said head coach Randall Knox. "It showed us at what level we need to be at in order to stay competitive. We will keep preparing to the best of our abilities and move on." 

MSU continues its conference slate next weekend when the Bears host Valparaiso on Saturday, April 9 at 1 p.m.
