SPRINGFIELD – Missouri State earned a park of walk-off softball wins here Sunday to sweep a conference doubleheader from visiting Illinois State, 3-2 (11 innings) and 2-1.

Daphne Plummer had 4 hits on the afternoon to lead Missouri State, while Skyler Shaw's 3-for-3 effort in game two set the stage for Plummer's game-winning hit in the finale.

Steffany Dickerson (7-5) and Madison Hunsaker (3-3) each pitched complete-game victories for Missouri State (10-13, 3-2 MVC).

Illinois State (10-15, 1-2 MVC) was led by Delainey Bryant's three hits on the day.

The Bears continue their home stand on Tuesday at 4 p.m. when they take on in-state rival Saint Louis for a single game at Killian Stadium. Admission is free.

Game 1
Missouri State 3, Illinois State 2 (11 innings)

In the opener, a walk-off double by Annie Mueller in the bottom of the 11th lifted the Bears to a 3-2 win in extra innings.

Mueller's game-winner came on the heels of a two-out walk to Ellie McCoy and a single to right by Steffany Dickerson. McCoy went first to third on the hit, and Dickerson advanced to second on the throw, putting a pair of runners in scoring position to set up Mueller's big hit.

Dickerson (7-5) went the distance in the circle, throwing all 11 innings and matching her career high with 12 strikeouts. She also walked four and allowed six hits.

The Bears fell behind 1-0 after a half inning but tied it in the fifth on a two-out double by McKenzie Vaughan. The Redbirds recaptured the lead in the top of the sixth, scoring a go-ahead tally on a two-out error by the Bears. But Alex Boze then knotted the score again in the bottom of the sixth with a solo homer to left, her seventh of the season, to make it 2-2.

That score held in the 11th when the Bears, who stranded 7 runners, rallied to win it.

Daphne Plummer led all players with three hits for the home side, while Dickerson and Mueller each contributed two hits in the win.

Illinois State was led by Emme Olson who posted two hits, including an RBI single in the first inning. Hannah Ross (6-6) took the loss in relief after fanning five and giving up just four hits in 4.2 innings of work.

Game 2
Missouri State 2, Illinois State 1

The Bears rallied in the bottom of the seventh with three hits and two runs to steal game two with Daphne Plummer's game-winning single to center plating Skyler Shaw to walk-off the Redbirds.

ISU led most of the game as Delainey Bryant's second-inning, RBI double held up a 1-0 lead for the visitors until the bottom of the seventh. Her two hits led Illinois State.

In the home half of the seventh, Bears' starting pitcher Madison Hunsaker led the inning off with a single to left before Ellie McCoy sacrificed pinch-runner Payton Minnis to second. Two batters later, Shaw singled to left to plate Minnis and tie the game, 1-1. That brought up Plummer who was 4-for-8 in the doubleheader after she smashed the game-winning hit to center to score Shaw and end the game in dramatic fashion.

Shaw finished 3-for-3 in the nightcap.

The Bears managed three of their six hits in the final frame and outhit the Redbirds, 6-5, in the contest.

Hunsaker (3-3) went the distance and struck out three, surrendering just five walks in a hard-nosed effort in the circle.

Illinois State starter Amanda Fox (4-7) struck out five and walked none before giving way to Hannah Ross with two outs in the seventh. Ross faced just one hitter, Plummer, who smacked the game winner through the box to the joy of the Killian Stadium faithful who enjoyed more than six hours of softball on the day.
