Starting Five - StorylinesÂ
1) Missouri State has continued its tradition of strong defensive play. The Lady Bears currently own the eighth-best scoring defense in the nation at 52.2, while also ranking in the top 20 in 3-point defense (11th - .256) and field goal percentage defense (17th - .355). MSU's defensive average is on pace to rank second in school history.
2) Out of the 22 opponents that qualify, Missouri State has held 19 out of 22 opponents under their scoring average entering their games against the Lady Bears. Across all 22 games, MSU is holding opponents to an average of 16.5 points below their scoring average prior to facing the Lady Bears. Missouri State has held eight opponents to 20+ points below their scoring average prior to facing the Lady Bears, including Power Five opponents USC and Missouri.

Sydney Wilson has become a realiable scorer for the Lady Bears, as she leads the team with 14 double-digit scoring performances, eight of which have come in 11 conference games. In eight of her double figure performances, Wilson has dropped 15 or more points. She is third on the team amongst active players with 11.3 ppg and second on the team with 5.7 rpg.Â
4) Since the season-ending injury to
Jasmine Franklin, Abi Jackson has stepped into a key role for the Lady Bears. Jackson leads Missouri State in conference play with 14.6 ppg and 7.3 rpg. Jackson has recorded double digit scoring performances in 10 of 12 games since stepping into the starting lineup consistently at the start of conference play and ranks 24th in the nation with 2.23 blocks per game.
5) Missouri State is 91-15 overall since Dec. 20, 2018, which is tied for seventh nationally in total wins since that date and seventh in win percentage (.858). Five teams ahead of the Lady Bears on the wins list have been ranked No. 1 in the AP Poll over that span.
The Opponent
    Illinois State sits at 15-9 on the season and 11-2 in the Missouri Valley Conference, which places them atop the conference standings. The Redbirds are paced by Juju Redmon and DeAnna Wilson, who average 16.4 and 13.5 ppg, respectively. As a team, the Redbirds average 67.3 ppg and 33.0 rpg. ISU shoots .456 from the field and .372 from three-point range.
    Bradley is 4-18 overall this season and 1-12 in MVC play. The Braves are led by Caroline Waite and Tatum Koenig who average 13.1 and 12.3 ppg, respectively. Sierra Morrow leads Bradley with 5.5 rpg. As a unit, Bradley averages 59.5 ppg and 36.1 rpg, while shooting .370 from the field and .326 from long range.

    Missouri State leads the all-time series over Illinois State, 47-34. In Normal, the Lady Bears have a 21-19 record against the Redbirds. Earlier this season in Springfield, the Lady Bears suffered a 51-52 loss at the hands of Illinois State. Â
