MSU Athletics Has Strong Semester in the Classroom

SPRINGFIELD -- Thirteen different Missouri State program posted a 3.0 grade-point average or better for the fall 2022 semester, the university announced Tuesday. 

As a department, Missouri State's 400-plus student-athletes accumulated a collective 3.224 GPA with more than 5,200 academic hours of class time. It marks the highest semester GPA on record for the department.

Led by women's tennis (3.81) and women's soccer (3.71), nine MoState women's programs achieved a 3.0 or higher for the fall semester with four sports posting record semester numbers. In addition to tennis, women's sports of swimming and diving (3.61), beach volleyball (3.58) and track and field (3.46) all achieved program high-water marks for academic excellence. Meanwhile, volleyball (3.68), cross country (3.61), softball (3.60) and golf (3.51) each eclipsed a 3.50 GPA for the semester.

On the men's side, the men's athletics 2.92 GPA set a fall-semester standard with men's soccer (3.62) and baseball (3.30) posting the best semester grades ever for those sports. Men's swimming (3.39) and golf (3.21) also eclipsed the 3.0 standard with men's basketball (2.96) logging its third-highest semester GPA on record.
