DES MOINES, Iowa – The Missouri State women's tennis team wrapped up its regular-season slate with a thrilling, 4-3 win over Drake on Sunday afternoon. 
 
"I am so proud of how we came out and competed today," head coach Hannah Keeling said. "They deserved this win and have been working incredibly hard. The hard work is paying off. We played the big points better today and will keep pushing forward as we head into the MVC Championships." 
 
Missouri State was able to secure the doubles point for the tenth time this season courtesy of wins in the No. 2 and 3 matches to grab the early 1-0 advantage. In the No. 2 match Hana Sisirak and Alyson Piskulic shut out Drake's Daria Walczak and Megan Webb, 6-0. MSU clinched the doubles point in the No. 3 spot as Mara Presot and Mary Houston defeated the Bulldog duo of Darinka Stepan and Ines Stephani, 6-4. 
   
Sisirak won her third consecutive match at the No. 1 spot in singles play as she defeated Drake's Liza Petushkova, 6-2, 6-3. Ellie Burger was victorious in the No. 2 match by sweeping Walczak, 6-3, 6-3. With the win, Burger's career record now stands at 42-17 (.712). MSU clinched the win in the No. 3 position, when Tiffani Nash dispatched Stephani, 6-0, 6-2. 
 
Drake got on the board with a win in the No. 4 match as Maria Tatarnikova won a three-set battle over Mary Houston, 6-7, 6-4, 7-6. Drake added two more points in the No. 5 and 6 positions when Stepan defeated Piskulic (6-2, 7-6) and Kelsey Neville edged out Claire Martin (3-6, 6-4, 7-6). 
 
With the two wins this weekend, the Bears solidified their spot as the No. 3 seed in the MVC Championships, which MSU will host at Cooper Tennis Complex April 23-25. The last time the Bears hosted the MVC Championships in 2018, they won the event.
