CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – The Missouri State women's tennis team turned in a dominant performance on Saturday afternoon as they shut out Northern Iowa, 7-0.

Missouri State raced out to a 1-0 lead as they swept doubles play to gain the early advantage for the ninth time this season. MSU got started with a win in the No. 3 match courtesy of Mara Presot and Mary Houston defeating the Panthers' Madeline Doherty and Issa Sullivan, 6-1. Hannah Sisirak and Alyson Piskulic defeated Northern Iowa's Thaissa Moreira and Valentina Caro in the No. 2 spot, 6-3, to clinch the doubles point. The Bears completed the sweep at the No. 1 position as Ellie Burger and Claire Martin gutted out a 7-5 win over Emma Carr and Olivia Fain of UNI.

Martin opened singles play in the No. 6 spot by defeating Morganne Borsch, 6-1, 6-0. In the No. 2 match, Burger was victorious, defeating Doherty, 6-4, 6-0. Houston clinched the win for the Bears in the No. 4 match with a sweep of Fain (6-3, 6-4).

In the No. 3 position, Nash kept the Bears win streak going with a win over Moreira, 6-2, 6-0. Nash's 13 wins in dual matches are the most by an MSU freshman since 2006. Sisirak picked up her second straight win at the No. 1 spot by defeating Carr, 6-3, 6-2.

Missouri State completed the sweep in the No. 5 match with Piskulic topping Sullivan, 6-1, 6-3. The 7-0 win was the Bears' first sweep in conference play since MSU defeated Bradley, 4-0 in the MVC tournament in 2018.

The Bears (9-9, 3-1 MVC) will conclude their regular-season slate tomorrow at Drake, with the first serve set for 10 a.m.
