TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The MSU men and women swimming teams continued their winning ways as the Bears won all three of their dual meets Saturday at Indiana State to go a combined 6-0 on the weekend.

The men won their lone dual of the day as they defeated Xavier 126-106, while the women competed in two duals defeating Indiana State (144-96) and Xavier (176-57).

On the women's side, the Bears got off to a hot start as Kellie Fischer, Yuliya Zubina, Sami Roemer and Anna Miller swam a 1:43.25 to win the 200 medley relay.

MSU went 1-2 in the 1000 free as Vera Margula swam a personal-best 10:03.96 to win the event while Sam Hietpas finished second in 10:08.66.

"I was pleased with my performance this meet, but I could not have done it without my team," remarked Margula. "I was really proud of how we all performed. We all really stepped up and performed well at this meet and we are excited to roll into conference next month."

In the 50 free, Yuyila Zubina was victorious with a time of 23.80, edging out Marlene Pavlu Lewin of Indiana State by just a fraction of a second.

MSU had a strong showing in the 200 IM, finishing in the 2-4 positions were Sydney Radloff (2:04.86), Sami Roemer (2:06.14) and Kelly Sego (2:06.50).

Anna Miller continued her winning ways in the 100 free, clocking a 50.88 to win the event, while teammate Anna Lucas finished third in 52.80.

"This meet showed a lot of promise for the MVC championships in a few weeks," said Miller. "We put together a lot of really great swims and I am excited to see what everyone can do in the championship setting. I am happy with my swims this weekend and I am looking forward to some fierce competition at the conference meet."

The Bears then went 2-3 in the 200 backstroke as Madison Brown finished second with a time of 2:01.07 while Sydney Radloff swam a 2:02.02 to take third.

Missouri State went 1-2 in the 500 free as Libby Howell ran away from the field with a time of 4:49.98 to win the event while Grace Beahan came in second at 5:03.75.

MSU replicated its 500 free performance by finishing 1-2 in the 200 breaststroke. Alessia Puleo swam a 2:16.05 to take first while Yuyila Zubina finished second in 2:19.63.

In women's diving action, Missouri State went 1-4 on the 1-meter boards and 1-3 on the 3-meter boards. "This meet was a great finish to our dual meet season before conference," Yarbrough said. "It was exciting to see everyone's dives coming together and to compete in a similar format to the conference meet. We loved getting to compete against such respectable teams. Now we are looking forward to the next couple of weeks of training to continue to prepare for the MVC championships."

The men started their day with a second-place finish in the 200 Medley Relay as Robbie Hill, Michael Hampel, AJ Huskey and Jonathan Hill swam a 1:31.68.

Dylan Moffatt had a strong showing in the 1000 free as he swam a 9:23.48 to finish the event in second. Jonathan Hill then followed Moffatt's performance by winning the 200 free with a time of 1:39.29.

Missouri State was dominant in the 200 IM as the Bears swept the event. Arthur Cury finished first (1:50.07), while Huskey followed in second (1:52.48) and Hampel finished third (1:52.86). Tyler Lewis just missed out of a top-three finish as he came in fourth just five-hundredths of a second behind Hampel (1:52.96).

Pawel Krawczyk won the 200 butterfly in 1:47.60, with Vaughn following in second with a time of 1:51.01.

In the 100 free, Cury garnered another top-three finish as he swam a 45.53 to finish the event in second place.

Robbie Hill was impressive in the 200 backstroke swimming away from the field while winning the event with a personal-best time of 1:46.72.

"These two weeks leading up to this meet we really worked on breaking down each part of the swim," Hill explained. "This allowed many of our swimmers to execute swims and get times that they have not seen this season within a typical week. With our rest coming up and more time to perfect our racing strategies our team will be optimized to swim as fast as possible."

In the 500 free, MSU took the second and third positions as Krawczyk finished second (4:28.83) and Moffatt took third (4:36.31).

The Bears made the most out of their final individual event of the day by sweeping the 200 breaststroke. Jimmy Doromal was the victor with a personal-best 2:02.22 while Huskey took second (2:04.81) and Nick Schuster finished third (2:06.14).

"For the 200 breaststroke, I wanted to be aggressive during the race and I wanted to make sure that I had good timing on my turns," Doromal reflected.

In diving action, the Bears swept both boards as Michael Claunch won both boards (300.00 1-meter, 312.00-meter), Trevor Fisher finished second (248.25 1-meter, 266.47 3-meter) and John David Spence finished third (245.25 1-meter, 243.68 3-meter).

"It gave me a good opportunity to evaluate what more I need to work on to be fully prepared for conference," Claunch remarked. "I'm happy with a lot of things, but there is definitely room for improvement."

The men's swimming and diving team will be back in action April 8-10 when the men travel to Oxford, Ohio, to compete at the MAC Championships. The women will conclude their season April 14-16 at the MVC Championships in Carbondale, Ill.
