SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Missouri State fell to SEMO in a hard-fought series finale by the score of 4-2 Saturday afternoon at the Cooper Tennis Complex.
MSU earned its first doubles point of the season as Ellie Burger and Claire Martin grabbed a victory at No. 2 doubles (7-5) while Alyson Piskulic and Hana Sisirak clinched the doubles point with a 6-2 victory in the No. 3 spot.
"We have to utilize the positives from today's performance with the winning doubles point," head coach Hannah Keeling said. "We are moving in the right direction as a team."
Burger was impressive in her first No. 1 singles match this season as she earned a three-set victory over SEMO's Ksenyia Zonova by the scores of 2-6, 6-4 and 6-2.
Mary Houston went the distance in No. 3 singles but ultimately fell to Ksenia Shikanova in the third set 6-1.
The Bears (1-4) will be back in action Friday, Feb. 19, when they host Tarleton State at 10 a.m. inside the Cooper Tennis Complex.
