WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The Missouri State swimming and diving programs posted impressive relay performances during day two of the Purdue Invitational at the Doris Z. Holloway pool Friday evening.
The Bears' shining moment came in the day's final event, the 800 freestyle relay. The women's quartet of
Anna Lucas,
Jordan Wenner,
Libby Howell and Sami Roemer combined to swim a 7:29.30 to garner a seventh-place finish. The mark was the seventh fastest in MSU history. In the men's race,
Pawel Krawczyk, Brunno Suzuki,
Dylan Moffatt, and
Arthur Cury finished fourth courtesy of a blistering time of 6:32.80, which is the eight-fastest time in school history.
After day two, the Missouri State men are in fourth place with 257 points while the women sit fifth with 236 points.
Highlights of the morning preliminary session included AJ Huskey's fifth-place finish in the men's 400 IM (3:53.59) and Howell placing second in the women's 200 freestyle (1:48.46).

Ulyana Zubina and Wenner got finals action started with a time of 1:42.12, tallying an 11th place finish in the women's 200 medley relay. The mark was the 10th-best in program history.

Michael Hampel, Cury and Bruno Guerra, clocking a 1:28.01, which was the eighth-fastest time in school history.
In the women's 400 IM, Roemer led the way, recording a time of 4:25.32 to finish sixth, while
Kelly Sego (4:26.43) followed in seventh.
Huskey paced the Bears in the men's 400 IM by placing fourth after registering a time of 3:52.62. Following Huskey was
Tyler Lewis (3:56.56) in seventh and Moffatt (4:00.90) in eighth.
Ulyana Zubina (55.41) led Missouri State in the women's 100 fly with a 14th-place finish, while Krawczyk (49.36) led the way in the men's 100 fly in 16th.
In the women's 200 freestyle, Howell cut more than a second off her preliminary time to finish second in 1:47.20. Suzuki (1:38.27) and Cury (1:36.52) finished eighth and ninth, respectively, in the men's 200 freestyle.
The Bears finished 13
th-15th in the women's 100 breaststroke with
Yuliya Zubina leading the way with a time of 1:02.74, followed by
Alessia Puleo (1:03.47) and
Cabrini Johnson (1:04.05). In the men's 100 breaststroke, Nick Schuster led the way with a time of 55.58 to place 15th.
Fischer led Missouri State in the women's 100 backstroke by clocking a 56.26 to come in 18th. In the men's 100 backstroke, Robbie Hill registered an impressive time of 48.28 to finish seventh.
John David Spence represented Missouri State in men's 3-meter diving, with the Grapevine, Texas native recording a mark of 270.20 to place 12th.
The Bears will conclude the Purdue Invitational tomorrow with preliminaries starting at 9 a.m. and finals beginning at 5 p.m.
