TERRE HAUTE, IND. – The Missouri State women's soccer team was defeated by Indiana State, 3-1 on Sunday afternoon at Memorial Stadium.

Abby Couch provided the goal for Missouri State with just 18 seconds remaining when she snuck a right-footed shot past Indiana State keeper Maddie Alexander. Iraia Arrue provided the assist. The goal was Couch's first of the seasons and the assist was Arrue's first of her career.

"We played very aggressive today but did not get the result we wanted," head coach Rob Brewer reflected. "Unfortunately, we gave up the early goal and had to battle back. I am proud of how we battled to get chances."

The Sycamores got on the board in the seventh minute when Cece Wahlberg netted a goal off a pass from Jensen Margheim. Indiana State added another goal in the 35^th minute of the first half courtesy of Sasha Thompson to take a 2-0 lead into the break.

Mackenzie Kent added extra insurance for the Sycamores in the 55^th minute when she found the back of the net with Wahlberg providing the assist.

The Bears (4-7-4, 1-4-1 MVC) had an Alyssa Buchheit goal get negated by an offsides penalty in the 22^nd minute.

Kara Privitera led the offensive attack for Missouri State by tallying four shots and three shots on goal. Couch, O'Keefe, Orlick, and Brynna Rutherford also put shots on goal.

Overall, Missouri State had the advantage in shots (15-7), shots on goal (8-3) and corner kicks (6-2).

Twenty Bears saw action, with Jenna Anderson and Isabel Burke playing all 90 minutes of the match. Kate Schroeder returned to action for the first time since August 29. The Bears were without Sierra Fury, Jacqueline Baetz and Kyli Jackson.

With two matches to go in the regular season, the Bears will be back in action when they host Drake on Oct. 23. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m., and there is no admission charge for Missouri State home games this season.
