SPRINGFIELD – Missouri State rebounded for the emphatic 6-1 victory versus Kansas City to close out a weekend home swing Sunday morning at Cooper Tennis Complex.
The Bears (4-7) started its hot streak in doubles, with No. 1
Ellie Burger and
Alye Darter taking advantage with the 6-2 result while No. 2
Anna Alons and
Alyson Piskulic sealed the point in a 6-3 thumping.
MSU stumbled in the first flight, but No. 4
Taylor Shaw helped the Bears find their footing with a solid 6-3, 6-2 performance. Alons and Burger rounded out the Bears' victors, posting straight-set 6-3, 6-1 and 6-3, 7-5 to lock the non-conference win.
Kansas City (1-8) forfeited the Nos. 5 and 6 singles matches, boosting MSU's total to six points.
MSU is idle until a Wednesday, March 18 contest at Jackson State in Jackson, Miss.
