
Beach Bears Open 2020 Campaign in Arizona

SPRINGFIELD – Missouri State starts its third season of beach volleyball this weekend with four matches at the Cactus Classic hosted by the University of Arizona.

Year 2 Recap
Missouri State had a winning record in its second season of competition, finishing 13-11 overall in 2019. The Bears owned a .538 pairs winning percentage on the year that included victories in flights 3-5 at better than a 63 percent clip.

Scouting the Bears
Missouri State returns two regulars from last year's lineup in Kylee Davis and Kelsey Larsen. Davis went 14-8 last year for the second-most wins in school history, while Larsen turned in 10 victories. MSU's remaining roster includes one squad member from last season, seven true freshmen, and six transfers.
   MSU has 29 scheduled matches this year, beginning the year 18 away from home before hosting the Bear Claw Classic March 27 and 28 at the Betty & Bobby Allison Sand Volleyball Courts.
The Opponents
Arizona is ranked 15th in the AVCA Collegiate Beach Volleyball Poll and finished 13th in the final 2019 poll with a 25-6 overall record.
    Boise State went 13-6 last season and is in its seventh year of beach volleyball. The Broncos play in the Pac-12 Conference.
    San Francisco posted a 12-13 record in 2019 and plays in the West Coast Conference.  Â

Bears Join CCSA
Missouri State officially joined the Coastal Collegiate Sports Association on Dec. 13, 2019. The Bears will vie for a title in the 14-team league at the CCSA Tournament on April 17 and 18.
