The Missouri State women's golf team is set to host its 2019-20 season opener Monday and Tuesday (Sept. 9-10) at Twin Oaks Country Club in Springfield. The Bears will welcome 11 other teams to town for the MSU/Payne Stewart Memorial, a tournament named in honor of the Springfield native and PGA Tour standout who perished in a plane crash in 1999.
The tournament is slated for an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start both days, with 36 holes being contested Monday and 18 on Tuesday. There is no admission charge. Twin Oaks, home of the Bears' indoor practice facility, will play to a par of 71 and at 5981 yards for the tournament.
Other teams in the field include Arkansas State, Austin Peay, Creighton, Drury, McNeese State, Oklahoma City, Oral Roberts, South Dakota, UMKC, UTEP and Wichita State.
MSU will be looking to improve on its sixth-place finish from a year ago. Sophomore
Abby Cavaiani, the Missouri Valley Conference individual champion last spring, will lead the Bears' nine-player contingent. Cavaiani, sophomores
