Bears to Host Free Basketball Coaching Clinic

September 27, 2019

SPRINGFIELD – Missouri State men's basketball will be hosting a free coaches clinic on Saturday, Oct. 26 at JQH Arena. With a collection of some of the region's top coaching minds on hand to share knowledge about the game, the clinic is for new and experienced coaches of all levels.

Advanced registration is not required, but coaches should allow ample time on the morning of the clinic to park, register and be ready to go when the event starts at 8 a.m.

"This is a great opportunity for area coaches to learn from some legendary men in our sport," said Bears' head coach Dana Ford. "The clinic is free, and we think it will add to the many outstanding events going on during Homecoming weekend at Missouri State."

In addition to the Missouri State staff, guest coaches for the clinic include:
  • Steve Hesser (head coach Drury University)
    • "Building an Offense – Thoughts on 40 Years of Coaching."
  • Mark Fisher (former head coach at Greenwood High School)
    • "What I've Learned through My Journey; Helpful Hints for Coaches On and Off the Floor"
  • Dave Loos (former head coach at Austin Peay University)
    • "Half Court Defense: Man-to-Man Ball Screen Coverage"
  • Jim Crews (former head coach at Saint Louis and Evansville)
    • "Being a Good Teammate and Leader"

After the coaches clinic, the Bears and Lady Bears will hold their annual "Sneak Preview" event for fans. That event is also free and scheduled to begin at 10 a.m.
