Men's Golf Rallies to Place Sixth at Southern Miss

Final Results

Missouri State rallied with a strong final two rounds to finish sixth Tuesday (Sept. 10) at the Sam Hall Intercollegiate men's golf tournament in Hattiesburg, Miss. After second-round play was suspended due to inclement weather Monday, the Bears bounced back with rounds of 284 and 282 after opening with 292 and posted a 54-hole total of 858 to tie for sixth with Central Arkansas in the 16-team event at Hattiesburg Country Club.

Junior Crimson Callahan led the MSU rally, shooting 66-68 in the final two rounds to go with 72 in the first round for a 206 total and tie for fifth. Freshman Max Kreikemeier shot 71-73-71--215 to tie for 26th, while junior Christopher Obert tied for 35th with 72-75-70--217. Senior Lukas McCalla carded 78-70-73--221 and freshman Eric Byun had 77-81-73--231.

Sam Houston State claimed the team title with 819, ten better than Southern Miss and Troy at 829. New Orleans finished fourth with 851, then Austin Peay just ahead of the Bears and UCA with 854.

The Bears are off next week, but return to action Sept. 23-24 at the Derek Dolenc Invitational in Madison, Ill.
