Head coach
Neal Stafford has added an additional player to his Missouri State golf team with the announcement that Juan Pablo "J.P." Lavalle will be joining the Bears for the upcoming school year. Lavalle redshirted last season at the University of North Texas and will have four years of eligibility remaining at MSU.
He was a prep standout at The Woodlands High School in Texas, where was the 11th-ranked senior in the state in 2018, winning the district title. Lavalle also chalked up three top-25 finishes at American Junior Golf Association events in 2018 and qualified for this year's Texas Amateur.
"I am very pleased that J.P. has chosen Missouri State to continue his collegiate career," said Stafford. "He is a very talented player who I expect to contribute to our program immediately. I believe our program is the perfect fit for him to feel very comfortable right away and achieve all of his goals in the classroom and on the course. I have really been impressed with his quiet confidence and look forward to being a part of his future as a Bear."
Lavalle will join Western Kentucky transfer Crimson Callahan and incoming freshmen Austin Gillund of Clinton, Mo.; Maxwell Kreikemeier of Chesterfield, Mo.; and Eric Byun of Richmond Hill, Ontario on the 2019-20 squad.
