MSU Student-Athletes Honored by Valley

ST. LOUIS – A group of more than 140 Missouri State student-athletes are among an elite crop of Missouri Valley Conference competitors announced Friday to the 2018-19 MVC Honor Roll.
 
Conference-wide, 106 student-athletes earned the league's highest academic achievement by capturing the Missouri Valley Conference President's Council Academic Excellence Award, including seven from Missouri State: Emily Butters (volleyball), Ashley Childers (women's golf), Caroline Finnell (beach volleyball), Kyle Hiebert (men's soccer), Amanthi Silva (women's track), Loretta Stelnicki (women's swimming) and Sydney Zupan (women's swimming).
 
The President's Council Academic Excellence Award which requires a minimum 3.8 cumulative grade point average (through the spring 2019 semester), participation in athletics a minimum of two years, and the student-athlete must be within 18 hours of graduation. 
 
Likewise, 55 Bears earned the prestigious Commissioner's Academic Excellence Award. There were a total of 731 student-athletes in the MVC who earned this honor which requires a minimum GPA of 3.5 for the previous two semesters, a minimum 3.2 cumulative grade point average, and participation in athletics a minimum of two years.

  • Women's Golf: Ashley Childers

The Missouri Valley Conference Honor Roll was also announced with 141 Missouri State student-athletes earning accolades for classroom excellence. To qualify for the Valley Honor Roll, a student-athlete must have recorded a minimum 3.2 grade point average for a specified term (fall 2018 and spring 2019), must have been a member of an athletics team, and must have been enrolled full time during the term they earned the honor.
