MSU Non-Conference Schedule
Â
BRISTOL, Conn. -- ESPN Events has revealed the bracket for the 12th annual Charleston Classic men's basketball tournament, to be played Nov. 21, 22 and 24 at TD Arena in Charleston, S.C.
Â
In addition to Missouri State, the field is highlighted by preseason Top 25 programs Florida and Xavier, along with returning MAC champion Buffalo, UConn, Miami (Fla.), Saint Joseph's and Towson.
Â
The Bears' first round opponent will be Miami (Fla.) on Thursday, Nov. 21 at 10:30 a.m. (Central) on ESPN2 or ESPNU. The MSU-Miami game will kick off the 12-game event, all of which will be nationally televised on the ESPN networks.
Â
Miami, out of the Atlantic Coast Conference, is coming off a 14-18 campaign. The Hurricanes have taken home the Charleston Classic title in both of their previous appearances in 2009 and 2014. In the only previous meeting between the two programs, Miami defeated Missouri State, 81-72, in the second round of the NIT in Coral Gables, March 21, 2011.
Â
MSU's next-round opponent will be either Florida or Saint Joseph's (Pa.) on Friday, Nov. 22. The complete matchups and TV assignments can be found below.
Â
In addition to learning their pairings for the Charleston Classic, the Bears also announced Thursday the addition of two more home games for the upcoming 2019-20 campaign. The Bears will take on Alabama State on Sunday, Nov. 10, as part of their non-conference slate. MSU has also added fellow SWAC stalwart Mississippi Valley State for a home game at JQH Arena on Friday, Dec. 6.
Â
According to second-year head coach
Dana Ford, the Bears have just one remaining home date to fill to complete the non-conference portion of their 2019-20 schedule. As is customary, the Missouri Valley Conference schedule will be announced in September.
