Stillwell Joins CoSIDA Hall of Fame

ORLANDO, Fla. – Former Missouri State University athletics administrator Mark Stillwell was inducted into the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Hall of Fame here Monday as part of the organization's annual convention.
 
Stillwell retired from MSU in 2008 after more than 36 years as the school's sports Information director. A native of Springfield and graduate of Drury University, he became the MSU SID in 1972 after serving in the same capacity from 1970-72 at Drury. He was in charge of the athletic department media relations and publications efforts as the program evolved from NCAA Division II growth in the 1970's to NCAA Division I status in 1982 and into the Missouri Valley Conference in the 1990's and 2000's.
 
During his tenure, MSU hosted NCAA competition in eight different sports. His primary Bears' sport responsibilities were football and men's basketball, although he earned more than 60 publications and writing awards from CoSIDA and CASE in a variety of sports.
 
Stillwell's previous honors include a Lifetime Achievement Award from CoSIDA in 2008, MVC Hall of Fame in 2008, and Missouri Sports Hall of Fame in 2016.
 
He is a 28-year veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving on active duty from 1967 to 1970 and retiring from the Navy Reserve in 1991 with the rank of Captain.
 
Mark has witnessed Major League Baseball games from 66 different ballparks, including all 30 current venues now in use. He has seen the St. Louis Cardinals compete in 52 different parks.
 
He and his wife of 42 years, Tina, still reside in Springfield.
