RAYTOWN, Mo. -- The Missouri State women's golf team is in second place after Monday's 36 holes at the Kansas City Intercollegiate at Creekmoor Golf Club. The Bears fired 299-297--596 in picture-perfect weather, but trail leader Oral Roberts by 16 shots after the Golden Eagles scorched the par 72, 6054-yard layout with 292-288--580, four over par. Wichita State is third with 604, and UMKC and UT Rio Grande Valley round out the top five in the 10-team field with 606.

Rachel Johnson continued her solid play and led the way for MSU, shooting 71-75--146, which places her in a tie for fourth. Freshman
Allison Bray is tied for seventh after posting 74-74--148, while sophomore
Bridget Schulte and freshman
Abby Cavaiani are tied for 13th after identical 77-74--151 totals. Senior
Ashley Childers carded 79-78--157 and is tied for 28th.
The Bears had four players competing as individuals, with junior
Sophia Sadaro leading that group with 78-79--157, tied for 28th. Freshman
Faith Belmear is tied for 36th after shooting 74-85--159, while
Niamh Lendrum had 87-79--166 and
Brooke Newell shot 80-89--169.
Tuesday's final round is scheduled for an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start.
