CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – The Missouri State women's tennis team ended its run in the semifinals of the Missouri Valley Conference Championship, falling to top-seeded Stony Brook 4-0 at the Black Hawk Tennis Club.
"Tough loss today, but a great match overall," said Head Coach
Mallory Weber. "It came down to a few points, but credit to Stony Brook for playing well."
Stony Brook sprung to the early 1-0 lead, earning the No. 1 and No. 3 doubles victories to seal the point.
Three of the six singles matches advanced to three sets, each one favoring the Bears, but Stony Brook claimed the remaining two-setters to clinch their spot in the championship round.
Anna Alons,
Fati Khamissi, and
Ellie Burger led in the No. 2, 3, and 6 spots, but were unable to finish as Stony Brook earned the tiebreaker win in the fourth flight.
The Bears finish the season 11-11, going 3-2 in MVC contests.
