MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – Missouri State men's basketball will be well represented at the NCAA Final Four festivities here this week.
Â
MSU seniors
Jarred Dixon (G, Kansas City, Mo.) and
Josh Webster (G, St. Louis, Mo.) will put their talents on display in separate pre-tournament competitions surrounding the biggest college basketball weekend of the year.
Â
Dixon, who averaged 13.1 points and 2.6 rebounds with a team-high 37 steals for the Bears this season, will represent the Missouri Valley Conference in the Dos Equis 3x3U National Championship to be played at the Mall of America, Friday-Sunday. He will join fellow MVC standouts Armon Fletcher of Southern Illinois, Nick McGlynn of Drake and Phil Fayne of Illinois State on "Team MVC."
There are 32 teams in the second annual competition – one from each conference – starting with two days of pool play and a single-elimination bracket on Sunday. Pool games will stream live on Twitter (@3X3UHoops) with quarterfinals, semifinals and finals airing live on ESPN2 on Sunday.
Each team will be guaranteed three pool play games, earning $1,000 for every victory on Friday and Saturday. The top two teams in each pool (16 total teams) will move on to Sunday's knockout stage, where the stakes skyrocket. The championship team will take home $100,000, while the runners-up will share $2,000 and the third-place team will win an additional $1,000.
Admission to the Dos Equis 3X3U National Championship is free and fans are encouraged to be part of the atmosphere all weekend long. For more information on the Dos Equis 3X3U National Championship, including event updates, details, rules and more, follow @3X3UHoops or visit 3X3UHoops.com.
