SPRINGFIELD – Missouri State finishes its second season of beach volleyball in South Carolina this week at the Palmetto Invitational hosted by USC.

MSU Notables
Missouri State is 11-8 on the season after an 0-4 start, and the team's current six-match win streak is the longest in school history...Six of MSU's eight losses have been to teams ranked 19th or higher in the AVCA Top 20 poll...Sydney LeMay and Sam Brinkmann tied a school record with five consecutive victories from March 2-March 13...LeMay (12 wins), Kylee Davis (11), Sam Brinkmann (11), Sarah Demmer (11), Kelsey Larsen (10) and Ivy Reynolds (10) have all surpassed last season's high for individual wins....Brinkmann and Demmer are tied for MSU's career lead with 19 victories in two seasons...The Bears own a 15-4 record in the fourth flight this season with 11 different pairs...MSU owns an overall 56-39 (.589) pairs record this season, and is above .500 in each of the Nos. 2-5 spots...After sweeping all four home matches this year, the Bears are now 5-0 all-time and 25-0 in pairs on their home courts.

The Opponents
Missouri State is 0-1 against Charleston, losing 4-1 at last year's Palmetto Invitational; the Bears 0-1 against South Carolina, with a 5-0 setback in Columbia last season; MSU is 0-2 vs. Tulane, including a 3-2 loss in Fort Worth, Texas, on March 2; the Bears have never played UNC Wilmington.

About Beach Volleyball
As of January 2019, there were 82 NCAA schools that fielded a beach volleyball team, and 16 NAIA schools with programs.
A match is two sets to 21 points with a 15-point third set if needed, and all sets are rally scoring. Each school divides its roster into five teams of two players each (10 total players will compete for each school in a match), and the winner is the school that captures three of the five matches between the two-player teams.
