OXFORD, Ohio – The Missouri State men's swimming and diving team carried its momentum into the third day of Mid-American Conference championship action, seeing Blair Bish and Pawel Krawczyk tally individual titles along with a relay win at the Corwin Nixon Aquatic Center.

The Bears maintained their second-place position after a successful day in the pool with 599 points, pacing behind top dog Miami (Ohio) by 24.5 points.

Miami (Ohio) held its first-place spot at the conclusion of day three with 623.5 points. Behind the Bears, Southern Illinois rounds out the top three with 382.5 points. Eight points separates fourth-place Evansville (220.5) and fifth-place Ball State (212.5).

"I was proud of our effort tonight," said head coach Dave Collins. "We had to have some big moments to give us a chance at the championship, and we were able to capitalize tonight."

Krawczyk garnered his second freestyle title of the championships in the 200 freestyle, clocking in at 1:36.73. His previous win was in the 500 freestyle on Tuesday night to help the Bears sweep the swimming events.

Earning a second-straight team victory and key points for the Bears, Bish swam an impressive 52.86 in the 100 breaststroke to take the gold medal. His time beat out the runner-up by exactly one second.

Finishing out the night, the Bears slipped past Miami (Ohio) to hoist the trophy in the 400 medley relay. The team of Conner Ripp, Blair Bish, Artur Osvath, and Lucas Paloschi notched a time of 3:10.71, beating out the Redhawks by a little over one-tenth of a second.

Miami (Ohio) won the remainder of the individual swimming events including the 400 IM, 100 butterfly, and the 100 backstroke.

Despite the Redhawks taking the top spot in the remaining three races, Missouri State still managed to place three on the podium in each respective event.

Beginning the third day of championship action, Antonio Thomas and Minki Kang finished back-to-back in the 400 IM at third and fourth-place, respectively. Senior Bryce Blattner added to the top finishers in the sixth-place spot.

Artur Osvath claimed the silver medal in the 100 butterfly with a time of 46.88, touching the wall a half-second behind the winner from Miami (Ohio). Fellow teammates Jacob Schultz and Ripp finished in the middle of the pack at fifth and sixth-place, respectively.

In the final swimming event, Ripp clinched his first individual silver medal in the 100 backstroke. The Bears landed two additional swimmers, Schultz and Thomas Heye, on the podium to nab key closing points.

On the diving boards, Trevor Fischer placed in the 3-meter consolation round with a score of 213.65.

With the championship on the line, Coach Collins will look for perfection from his team in the final day of competition.

"We need to be perfect tomorrow," said Collins. "I like our chances with this group of guys."

Championship action will conclude Thursday with prelims at 9:30 a.m. and finals at 5:40 p.m. The events will include the 200 backstroke, 100 freestyle, 200 breaststroke, 200 butterfly, 1650 freestyle, 400 freestyle relay, and 3-meter diving.
