Starting Five - Storylines for the Weekend
1) The Lady Bears (18-9, 14-2 MVC) sit second in the league standings and are 17-2 since a Dec. 16 loss to Gonzaga. Nine other MSU teams have started 14-2 or better in MVC games, with four of those getting to 16-2 and one finishing 17-1 (1992).

2) The Lady Bears are 21-2 in their last 23 Valley games and 29-5 in league play the last two seasons. MSU's average score in league contests the last two seasons is 73.2-59.3. In league games this season, MSU leads the MVC in scoring defense (58.7), 3-point defense (.275), steals (10.4), rebound margin (+9.6), offensive rebounds (14.1) and turnover margin (+5.50). The MSU defense has been at its best in the first half, allowing an average of 27.1 points in the opening 20 minutes of Valley contests.

3) MSU has a 33-10 league road record since the start of the 2014-15 season, and has now won six road league games in five consecutive seasons. MSU won its first seven MVC road games this season for the first time ever, and went 8-1 on the Valley road in 1992 for the best mark in school history. The Lady Bears have won nine straight MVC road games dating to last season, one shy of the school record streaks set from 1/14/99-1/22/00 and 2/20/15-2/5/16. MSU's longest road streak (all games) is nine in a row, set during the 1992 Final Four season, and the Lady Bears have won their last seven road games entering the weekend.

4) The Lady Bears have won the rebounding battle 23 times in 27 games this year, and rank in the top 31 nationally in rebound margin (+7.7) and both offensive (.378) and defensive (.741) rebound percentage. MSU's rebound margin is the second-best in school history, behind only the 1975 club at plus-9.9. 

5) Missouri State has made more free throws than the opposition in 17 of the last 18 games, making 229 foul shots in Valley games compared to 198 total attempts for opponents. 

Series Histories
The Lady Bears lead Evansville 40-13 in the all-time series, including a 16-9 record in Evansville. MSU has won 19 of the last 23 meetings overall.
    Missouri State holds a 60-18 series lead over the Sycamores, including a 24-12 mark in Terre Haute. MSU has won 11 straight in the series 20 of the last 24 overall.

Scouting Evansville
Evansville is 4-23 overall and 2-14 in MVC play with wins against Valpo and Indiana State. Kerri Gasper leads the Purple Aces with 12.2 points and 7.3 rebounds per game. UE scores 56.0 points per game and allows 72.4, shooting 34.9 percent overall, 27.9 percent on 3-pointers and 76.9 percent at the foul line after leading the nation in that category last season. The Aces are out-rebounded by 12.3 boards per game.

Scouting Indiana State
Indiana State is 11-16 overall and 5-11 in Valley games after a 3-2 league start. The Sycamores lead the MVC with 9.8 steals per game, with Ashli O'Neal nabbing 65 to go along with team-highs of 13.0 points and 2.5 assists per contest. As a team, ISU scores 62.3 points per game and allows 65.1 with shooting percentages of .379 overall, .335 from long range and .692 at the foul line with a minus-1.7 rebound margin.

First Meeting With Evansville
Missouri State shot 54.7 percent and posted the third-best rebounding margin in school history for an 88-66 win on Jan. 6 in Springfield.
    The Lady Bears owned a 52-20 rebounding edge, led by Jasmine Franklin's second straight double-double with 10 points and 10 boards, while Emily Gartner (9) and Sydney Manning (7) posted career-high rebounding totals.
    Alexa Willard paced the offense with 25 points on 11-for-15 shooting, including eight straight makes in the first half and a 3-for-5 showing from beyond the arc. Danielle Gitzen added 15 points and six assists, and Gartner tallied 13 on 6-of-8 shooting.
    Willard's third trey of the game came with 1:37 left in the first quarter for a 26-12 lead, and MSU led by double digits for the final 32 minutes after shooting 65.6 percent in the first half.
    The final margin was the closest the game got after halftime, as Evansville closed on a 10-0 run.

First Meeting With Indiana State
MSU opened the MVC season with a 71-58 victory against Indiana State on Jan. 4 in Springfield. 
    Jasmine Franklin tallied 17 points and 11 rebounds, and 12 different Lady Bear scored.
    Franklin - who shot 8-for-10 in the game with a stretch of eight consecutive makes - scored 10 of her points in a 15-0 first-quarter run that put the Lady Bears ahead 17-4, and MSU was up 25-10 just 15 seconds into the second period.
    The Sycamores twice got the deficit to seven points on the way to a 39-30 halftime score, and MSU rattled off a 10-0 run for a 53-36 lead after Danielle Gitzen connected on a trey from the right corner with 5:16 on the third quarter clock.
    Missouri State's lead grew to as many as 24 in the fourth quarter, and the Lady Bears shot 26-of-50 overall and 5-of-9 from 3-point range while holding the Sycamores to 38.5 percent shooting. MSU finished with a 32-31 rebounding edge and scored 42 points in the paint.
