OXFORD, Ohio – The Missouri State men's swimming and diving team garnered a pair of second-place finishes in the two relay events, Monday night, to begin championship action at the Corwin Nixon Aquatic Center.

The Bears hold the runner-up spot with 68 points at the conclusion of day one. Miami (Ohio) leads the pack, totaling 80 points, followed by Missouri State, and Southern Illinois rounds out the top three with 64 points.

Evansville and Ball State claim the final spots with 60 and 56 points, respectively.

In their opening event, the team of Jacob Schultz, Blair Bish, Artur Osvath, and Samuel Senn fell just shy in overtaking the Redhawks in the 200 medley relay, clocking in at 1:26.17 for second-place.

Moving to the 800 freestyle relay, Mohamed Abdelbaky, Pawel Krawczyk, Osvath, and Kevin Douglas propelled the Bears to another runner-up spot at 6:34.60. The time smashed the season-best set at the Hawkeye Invitational back in November.

Championship action will continue Tuesday with prelims at 9:30 a.m. and finals at 5:30 p.m. The events will include the 500 freestyle, 200 IM, 50 freestyle, 1-meter dive, and the 200 freestyle relay.
