SPRINGFIELD -- Missouri State racked up a season-high 14 hits and captured its fourth shutout of the season here Wednesday in a 6-0 win over visiting Saint Louis University at Killian Stadium.

The Bears (18-9) got three hits apiece from Kyana Mason and Darby Joerling to lead the hit parade that also included five extra-base hits for Missouri State. Three MSU pitchers combined for the shutout, allowing just five Billiken hits and striking out four.

"Our goal is to score five or more runs every time we go out, and it was a very good day for our offense," said head coach Holly Hesse. "We got quality pitching from all three pitchers who got in the game today, and we really showed competitive excellence throughout."

The win was No. 799 for Hesse's 31-year career at Missouri State.

The Bears stole a run in the bottom of the third to break up a scoreless game when Bailey Greenlee was caught stealing at second, but Daphne Plummer scampered home from third on the play to make it a 1-0 game.

MSU added three runs in the fourth with Alex Boze slamming her second homer of the season to left to start the inning. The Bears added a sac fly by Plummer and RBI double by Madison Hunsaker to push the home team ahead 4-0.

The Bears tacked on two more insurance runs in the fifth, starting with a two-out single by Joerling who scored moments later on a triple to the right side by Mason.

Steffany Dickerson (11-3) picked up the win after going 5.1 innings and allowing just four hits and striking out three. Madison Hunsaker and Erin Griesbauer faced the minimum in relief to cover the game's final five outs.

SLU (5-18) was led by Megan Lobianco who led the second inning off with a double but was stranded at third as one of just five Billiken hits on the afternoon.

The Bears stranded 11 runners for the game and got hits from eight different players.

MSU will entertain Northern Iowa (11-10, 2-1 MVC) at Killian Stadium this weekend with a Noon doubleheader on Saturday, followed by a single game on Sunday at 11 a.m.
