Knoesel Posts Top-10 Finish for Bears

LAKE CHARLES, La. -- Senior Jack Knoesel fired a five-under-par 67 in Tuesday's (Mar. 19) final round of the Lake Charles Toyota Men's Golf Invitational to earn an eighth-place finish. He paced Missouri State to a 12th-place team finish in a strong field that featured a handful of nationally-ranked teams. As a team, the Bears shot 285 in the final round to go with Monday's 292-282 to give them an 859 team total, five under par. 

For the tournament, Knoesel carded 72-68-67--207, nine under, for his career-best performance. Senior Brad Carpenter wasn't far behind with a tie for 13th after shooting 69-71-70--210. Adam Fisher tied for 78th with 77-71-75--223. Lukas McCalla was a stroke behind with 77-74-73--224, and Kory Franks another shot back after posting 74-72-79--225.

TCU, ranked 43rd nationally, ran away with the title at The Country at the Golden Nugget, which yielded a multitude of low scores, The Frogs tallied an 817 total for 54 holes, 47 under par and 15 better than no. 10 Texas Tech, which posted 832. UTSA placed third with 840, while Lamar and ULM rounded out the top five in the 18-team field with 844.

The Bears are idle next week before returning to action Apr. 1-2 at the Red Wolves Intercollegiate in Jonesboro, Ark.
