Starting Five - Storylines for the SIU Game
1) The Lady Bears (13-7, 9-0 MVC) have won 12 consecutive games (the second-longest active streak in NCAA Division I behind Oregon's 14, MSU's longest since 2004, and the eighth-longest in school history), averaging a plus-15.3 scoring margin and plus-12.4 rebound margin during the streak.Â
2) Missouri State brings a 16-game regular season MVC win streak into Friday's contest, which began on Feb. 9, 2018. It's the school's longest since 1999-2000, third-longest in program history, and seventh-best in MVC history. The Lady Bears have won their last 16 league games by an average of 17.8 points. This is the fourth time MSU has started 9-0 or better in MVC play, and first since 2004 (11-0).
3) MSU has a 30-10 league road record since the start of the 2014-15 season. The Lady Bears have gone 6-3 or better on the Valley road each of the last four seasons.
4) The Lady Bears rank first in league games in scoring defense (58.6), 3-point defense (.269), rebound margin (+11.1) turnover margin (+4.89), and both offensive (.363) and defensive (.782) rebound percentage. MSU has allowed an average of 12.4 points in the first quarter and 25.7 in the first half in nine MVC contests, and made 144 free throws compared to 101 total attempts for the opposition.
5) Kellie Harper will coach her 100th MVC regular season game on Friday, and owns a 71-28 league record. Her .717 win percentage in Valley games ranks fifth in conference history. Harper has 106 total wins at Missouri State, moving to third in school history in total victories with Sunday's triumph at UNI.
Series History
MSU leads the all-time series with SIU 53-28, including a 20-17 record in Carbondale. The Lady Bears are 13-2 in their last 15 games against the Salukis.
Scouting SIU
Southern Illinois is 10-10 overall, 3-6 in MVC games, and 8-1 at home. The Salukis have three players averaging at least 10 points per game, led by Nicole Martin's 14.8 average on 55 percent shooting. Makenzie Silvey tallies 14.6 points per game with 46 3-pointers, Abby Brockmeyer scores 10.5 per game with a team-high 8.2 rebounds, and Brittney Patrick has a team-high 106 assists. SIU averages 65.8 points per game, allows 65.2, and shoots 40.5 percent overall, 30.7 percent from long range and 64.8 percent at the foul line.
First Meeting This Season
Missouri State topped SIU 66-51 on Jan. 13 in Springfield. The Lady Bears shot better than 50 percent over the game's final 35 minutes after missing their first 10 shots.Â
   SIU scored 14 first-half points, the lowest total for a half in JQH Arena history, managing only eight in the final 16:27 of the first half.  Â
   The Salukis sliced the deficit to single digits at 40-31 with 3:32 to play in the third period, and MSU countered with a 5-0 run to lead by double figures for the rest of the game.

Jasmine Franklin posted a double-double with 10 points and 14 boards, MSU finished with a 40-37 rebounding edge and scored 44 points in the paint.
Alexa Willard shot 7-for-13 with 18 points, and
Danielle Gitzen had 10 points, four assists and four steals.
