COLUMBIA – Central Arkansas used a strong effort in singles action to seal a 6-1 win over Missouri State's women's tennis team Sunday morning at the Mizzou Tennis Complex.
 
Missouri State (4-4) fell behind early in doubles, dropping the first two matches. Fati Khamissi and Phoebe Boeschen battled in the No. 3 spot, but ultimately came up short in a tight 7-6 loss to hand Central Arkansas (6-5) the doubles point.
 
Heading into singles action, the Bears faltered in the second, third, and fourth flights. Clara Gandara Gonzalez was the lone winner in the No. 5 spot, prevailing in a three-set tiebreak, 7-6, 2-6, 10-8.
 
Three of the Bears' six singles matchups proceeded to a third set. Ellie Burger and Alye Darter were unable to tilt the match in the Bears favor, falling 6-3, 3-6, 9-11, and 6-2, 3-6, 0-6, respectively.
 
Missouri State will regroup and head to Alabama A&M on Friday, March 1.
