RIO VERDE, Ariz. -- Freshman Allison Bray stood out Saturday (Feb. 23) in an otherwise lackluster performance for the Missouri State women's golf team in its spring opener at the Rio Verde Invitational. Bray fired a two-over-par 73 at the Rio Verde Country Club's Quail Run course and is in seventh place, but the Bears could muster just a 315 team score and sit in 16th of 18 teams entering Sunday's final round.

Bray was the only MSU player to break 80 as freshman Abby Cavaiani shot 80, seniors Rachel Johnson and Ashley Childers had 81, and freshman Faith Belmear carded 86. Sophomore Bridget Schulte, playing as an individual, posted an 83.

Arkansas State sits atop the tightly-bunched field after shooting 297, one better than Boise State, two in of Xavier and three ahead of host Western Michigan.
