RIO VERDE, Ariz. -- A once-in-a-generation snowstorm Thursday night and early Friday left the Rio Verde Country Club blanketed in snow and forced the cancellation of Friday's (Feb. 22) first round of the Rio Verde Invitational, delaying for a day the opening of the Missouri State women's golf season.
The Bears and 17 other teams were scheduled to play the first of three rounds beginning at 1 p.m., but the tournament has now been shortened to 36 holes, with teams slated to tee off at 11:30 a.m. both Saturday and Sunday.
