ST. LOUIS – Successful efforts from juniors
Libby Howell and
Ashley Yarbrough at the Indiana State Invitational over the weekend earned the Missouri State women's swimming and diving duo Missouri Valley Conference swimmer and diver of the week honors, as announced by the league Tuesday.
Â
Howell produced three deciding freestyle swims at the Indiana State Invitational this past weekend, winning the 200 (1:48.98), 500 (4:52.88), and 1650 freestyle (16:55.92) events against the University of Indianapolis and host Indiana State. All three times top the Missouri Valley Conference and rank within the top 40 nationally. Her 1650 freestyle time stands at #6 in NCAA Division I.
Â
Yarbrough claimed both diving events for the Bears at the Indiana State Invitational, recording first-place finishes on the 1-meter (243.10) and 3-meter (275.40) boards. The sweep marks her first two individual titles on the young season.
Â
This is both ladies' first MVC honor for the 2019-20 season.
Â
Up next, the Bears play host to Missouri on Saturday, Nov. 2 at Hammons Student Center Pool beginning at 1 p.m.
