TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The Missouri State men's and women's swimming and diving team produced seven wins across individual and team events during Saturday's first session of the Indiana State Invitational.

Libby Howell and
Pawel Krawczyk swept the 500 freestyle swims for the Bears, each turning in a first-place finish against competitors UIndy and host Indiana State. Howell clocked in nearly four seconds ahead of the runner-up at 4:52.88 while Krawczyk kicked off a 1-2-3 winning formation for MSU, sporting a 4:25.66 race.

The men tallied key points for MSU in the 200 IM, providing yet another 1-2-3 punch courtesy of
Arthur Cury (1:50.37),
Thomas Heye (1:52.50), and
Tyler Lewis (1:52.93). Newcomer Cury has made a splash for the Bears recently, picking up his second first-place finish in the past two meets.

Anna Miller garnered her second-straight 50 freestyle title, beating out UIndy by two-tenths of a second for the top spot at 23.29.

MSU won three of the final four events of session one, beginning with a pair of victories in the women's and men's 800 freestyle relays.

The Bears wrapped up day one with a first-place diving score from
Ashley Yarbrough on the 1-meter boards (243.10). Teammate
Dayana Popa promptly followed suit with the runner-up spot at 234.90. Â

The Indiana State Invitational resumes tomorrow with sessions two and three beginning at 10 a.m.
