Sunday - Alumni Reunion; auction of historic Lady Bears jerseys

The Missouri State Lady Bears are back at home for two games at JQH Arena this weekend, putting their 5-0 MVC record and first-place conference standing on the line against Loyola at 7 p.m. Friday and Valparaiso at 2 p.m. Sunday.

Starting Five - Storylines for the Weekend
1) The Lady Bears (9-7, 5-0 MVC) have won eight consecutive games, averaging a plus-11.6 scoring margin and plus-12.1 rebound margin during the streak. 

2) Missouri State brings an 12-game regular season MVC win streak into Friday's game, which began on Feb. 9, 2018. It's the school's longest since 1999-2000, and the third-longest in MSU history. The Lady Bears have won their last 12 league games by an average of 16.3 points. This is the sixth time MSU has started 5-0 or better in MVC play, and first since 2004 (11-0).

3) MSU has also won 11 consecutive conference home games, dating to Jan. 7 of last season. The Lady Bears have won all 11 games by double digits with an average score of 76-54.8, and shot 46.6 percent from the floor with a plus-10.9 rebounding margin.

4) The Lady Bears rank first in league games in scoring defense (55.6) and field goal defense (.353), and have allowed an average of 22.6 first-half points in five MVC contests. MSU has also made 72 free throws in MVC play, compared to 54 total attempts for the opposition. Loyola and Missouri State rank 1-2 in MVC games in 3-point percentage (.467-.409) and defensive rebound percentage (.814-.796). The Ramblers lead the nation by rebounding 78.1 percent of opponent misses for the full season, while the Lady Bears have more rebounds in 14 of 16 games this season.

5) Former Lady Bears wil be honored at both weekend games. Carly Deer Stubblefield will be recognized at halftime on Friday as part of the 2019 Missouri State Athletics Hall of Fame class. An alumni recognition is scheduled for halftime of Sunday's contest as former Lady Bears return to campus for MSU's celebration of its 50th season of women's basketball.

Series Histories
Missouri State is 9-3 all-time against Loyola with a 5-0 mark in Springfield. The Lady Bears are 9-1 against the Ramblers since LUC joined the league.
    Missouri State is 2-0 in the series with Valpo, sweeping both games last year in the Crusaders' first MVC season.

Scouting Loyola
Loyola is 9-7 overall and 3-2 in MVC play with league wins against Valpo, Evansville and Indiana State. Three Ramblers score in double figures, led by Abby O'Connor's 13.9 points with 28 3-pointers, 6.7 rebounds per game and 25 total blocks. As a team, Loyola scores 65.1 points per game and allows 63.8, shooting 43.5 percent overall, 35.5 percent on 3-pointers and 78.8 percent from the foul line. LUC has a plus-2.2 rebounding margin.

Scouting Valpo
Valparaiso owns a 5-12 overall record and 1-4 mark in MVC play entering its Friday game at Southern Illinois. Meredith Hamlet leads Valpo in scoring (13.5 ppg) and assists (37), and Addison Stoller is the top rebounder with a 6.2 average. As a team, VU averages 63.6 points and allows 69.5, shooting 39.4 percent overall, 33.8 percent from distance and 66.3 percent from the free throw line. The Crusaders are out-rebounded by an average of 7.9 boards per game.
