CSCAA Release
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Making strides in the classroom, the Missouri State men's and women's swimming and diving teams were named College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of American (CSCAA) Scholar All-America Teams, announced by the organization Tuesday.
"We take a lot of pride in the academic success of our programs," said head coach
Dave Collins. "Our group knows that they represent this program, not only in the water, but also the classroom."
To be selected as a CSCAA Scholar All-America Team, programs must have achieved a grade point average of 3.00 or higher over the 2018 fall semester. A total of 713 teams, representing 460 schools, earned Scholar All-America status for the fall semester.
The Missouri State men boasted the second-highest GPA in the Mid-American Conference and ranked 22
nd among all Division I institutions with a 3.33 cumulative GPA. The men's efforts stand as the second highest Division I GPA in the state of Missouri, following Saint Louis. Eleven student-athletes on the men's side carried a 3.50 GPA or higher after the fall 2018 semester.
Maintaining a 3.48 team GPA, the Missouri State women tied for 65
th in the nation while sophomore
Allee Armitage earned a perfect 4.0 GPA. Twenty-nine swimmers on the women's roster maintained a 3.10 GPA or better during the fall semester.
Founded in 1922, the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) is the oldest organization of college coaches in America. The CSCAA is a professional organization of college swimming and diving coaches dedicated to serving and providing leadership for the advancement of the sport of swimming & diving at the collegiate level.
