COLUMBIA – Despite a hard fought effort and some stand-out performances, the Missouri State swimming and diving teams fell to Missouri, Saturday afternoon, at the Missouri Aquatic Center.

"Our main focus today was to try and clean up some details," said head coach Dave Collins. "There are things that we can continue to improve on but overall it was a good effort."

Both the men's and women's teams dropped the meet against the Tigers, the men, 164-118, and the women, 164-115.

On the men's side, Artur Osvath claimed a pair of victories in the 100 and 200 breaststroke, respectively. In the 200 breaststroke, Osvath touched the wall a little over five seconds ahead of the Missouri runner-up. The 100 breaststroke race was a closer contest, with Osvath beating the competition by a second at 54.70.

Pawel Krawczyk impressed in the long-distance races with a time of 4:30.45 in the 500 freestyle. He also placed third for the Bears in the 200 freestyle, clocking in at 1:40.39.

In the team races, Jacob Schultz, Blair Bish, Osvath, and Samuel Senn placed third in the 200 medley relay at 1:29.13. Schultz, Bish, Lucas Paloschi, and Senn capped the meet with a fourth-place finish in the 400 freestyle relay.

Sydeny Radloff's 4:30.37 performance in the 400 IM highlighted the afternoon on the women's side.

"Her effort today was the swim of the meet on the women's side," said Collins. "It should give her some confidence heading into the conference championships."

Senior Brianna McCullough had an exciting start to the meet, nabbing second in the 1000 freestyle at 10.22:82. After a slow start, McCullough powered through to surpass third and create a nearly six second gap.

Standout Libby Howell slipped by the Tigers to take second in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:53.50. She also swam a leg of the 400 freestyle relay that claimed fourth place on the afternoon.

On the 3-meter dives, Ashley Yarbrough and John David Spence picked up key points for the Bears. Both finished third in their respective events, with Yarbrough totaling 281.03 and Spence earning 286.28, respectively.

Yarbrough would lead the Bears in the 1-meter as well, placing fourth with 246.30 points. Michael Claunch took advantage of a Missouri disqualification to bump up to fourth with his 298.88 total.

This was the last regular season meet for the women's team. They will return to Columbia, Mo. to compete in the Missouri Valley Conference Women's Swimming and Diving Championships, hosted by Missouri State, Feb. 20-23.

The men will travel to South Bend, Ind. to compete in the Shamrock Invitational, hosted by Notre Dame, Friday, Jan. 25 and Saturday, Jan. 26.
