
Bears Draw with Evansville to Stay Undefeated

SPRINGFIELD – In the first road conference test of the season, the Missouri State men's soccer team (5-0-3, 1-0-1 MVC) records a 1-1 double overtime draw with Evansville, to stay undefeated on the year.
During the opening period the squads kept things locked up, with both teams recording six shots in the 45 minute half.
Five minutes into the second half Conor Ingram broke open the scoring with his second goal of the season. Ingram rebounded a shot attempt by Josh Dolling to find the back of the net to put the Bears ahead.
In the 65th minute Evansville got the equalizer, with Davis Peck finding goal for the Purple Aces.
The next 25 minutes saw Evansville turn up the offensive effort, but a responding toughening on the defensive side by the Bears. MSU held UE to just two shots for the rest of regulation.
In the first extra time period Evansville racked up six shot attempts with three on goal, but could not convert the golden goal. The final overtime produced only one shot attempt by either team, which was a blocked shot by Dolling.
Goalkeeper Michael Creek snagged seven saves, one short of his season high (8). The Bears defense allowed 16 shots by the Purple Aces, with only one causing damage.
The Bears will return home for a two game home stand against Western Illinois, Tue., Oct. 2 and Bradley on Sat., Oct. 6, both 7 p.m. kickoffs.
