Missouri State golfer Ashley Childers has earned a national honor for her achievements in the classroom. The senior-to-be from Mount Vernon, Mo., has been named an All-American Scholar by the Women's Golf Coaches Association.

Childers has compiled a perfect 4.0 cumulative grade-point average through her first three years at MSU while majoring in Logistics and Supply Chain Management. She received honorable mention to the Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete Team as a sophomore and first team honors this past season. Most notably, she earned the MVC's prestigious Elite 17 Award, which is presented to the athlete in each sport with the highest grade-point average who competes at the league championship. On the course, she averaged 78.21 in 33 rounds while competing in all 11 tournaments for the Bears this past season and placed sixth at the Valley tournament, where MSU won its second straight team title.

Childers was one of 1,011 golfers recognized nationally by the WGCA for having a 3.50 or better GPA, playing in a minimum of 50 percent of her team's tournaments, and being of high moral character and in good academic standing.
